Project 365: Day 274

Since we did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on Saturday, my picture of the day is going to have to be from Post-midnight fun at our freinds-giving!
I am happy to say that aside from going to yoga, I did not take more steps than necessary to get from my bed to my couch to my kitchen and bathroom and then back to bed on Saturday!

Project 365: Day 273

Happy Thanksgiving take TWO!!!!
It's another Friends-giving!!! Jessie, Robyn, and Matt were gracious enough to host yet another friends Thanksgiving this year.
It was largely the same crew that was at the Berkey's on Thursday, with a few new additions. Two Turkeys and TONS of food again!!! And this time NONE of my dishes were dropped on the ground or otherwise ruined! I brought cranberry sauce, left over butternut squash, and a green bean casserole that was a big hit!
another bacon-veggie dish topped off the meal! (I LOVE BACON!)
My plate this time was a little more conservative, but still DELICIOUS and absolutely indulgent. YUMMY!
After dinner, Nick and I helped with the dishes (isn't he just the best!?)
Can't believe how lucky we are to have such abundance (of food, friends, and family) in our lives!

Project 365: Day 272

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
This year, I am most thankful for my amazing fiance and our impending nuptials!! YAY!!!!

But there is lots more to be thankful for, including my amazing group of Denver friends who allowed me to have TWO glutenous days of Thanks!  Our first Thanksgiving (on the actual day) was at Kyle's parent's house. Smiley Kyle, as we now know was his childhood nickname
and his sister Kim
invited us to their parent's house for Thanksgiving. Their parents moved to Denver this year from Jersey to be near their kids and they live in an amazing bungalow in Wash Park - just like my parents are going to do one day!! I already told Debbie and Lee that they are going to be best friends with my parent's and Aimee's parents and then one day our three families are going to have an UBER Thanksgiving!! I can't wait!
In the meantime, we had an incredible time at their house on Thursday, they are just wonderful people. The food was fabulous (including a HUGE spread of cheesy casseroles!)
and bacon Brussels sprouts (which I had never eaten before due to the fact that my papa used to make my mom eat her Brussels sprouts - which she hated - and so I have made it 28 years into life without ever having tried them!)
They were delicious!

My butternut squash dish was pretty well received
despite the fact that just a couple hours earlier it had looked like this:
(so for anyone who is keeping track, I managed to provide TWO mangled dishes to this Thanksgiving! Thanks to Nick for saving my pie and Jessie for saving my butternut squash!!!)
Regardless of my little mishaps, the food was AMAZING and I had probably one of the biggest and least healthy Thanksgiving plates of my life:
and I think I did a pretty good job on it too:
After a little post-dinner stroll, the guys settled in the basement to play old-school video games while the ladies played charades upstairs... Good times were had by all!!!

Project 365: Day 271

Time to prep for Thanksgiving! This year we're going to two Thanksgiving day feasts - well one on Thursday and another one on Friday. All in all, I'm making two batches of home made cranberry sauce, a pumpkin pie, butternut squash casserole, and green bean casserole. On Wednesday I made the cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie because they both taste better when they're refrigerated over night. The cranberry sauce was a piece of cake, but the pie presented it's own problems.

Mostly, the problem was that I didn't know I was making a pie until Wednesday morning so Nick had to go to the store at the height of the pre-Thanksgiving craze and they were out of pretty much everything I needed - in particular a pie crust.  He did come through, though, and brought home a pre-made graham cracker pie crust that I made do with.

This is the firs time ever I made a pie with real pumpkins so I'm super excited to try it out!!!!
Unfortunately, due to the fact that I did not have a sturdy pie pan (just the aluminum pan that the crust came in) I fumbled on removing the pie from the oven, thus resulting in a less-than-desirable outcome.
I was PRETTY PISSED when it happened, but the show must go on. I'm gonna slap some whipped cream on the sucker and serve it anyway. I think it's gonna be goood!!!

Project 365: Day 270

The ski season has arrived!!!!
Nick and I went up with our friend Robyn and met up with Randi on the mountain as well. It was an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS DAY!!! 50 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and not too crowded.  In total we got 9 runs in and 17,527 vertical feet covered in just a couple of hours. Fabulous day!!
Now we just need some more snow!!
AND it was also super exciting because I got to rock my new razzelberry gear for the first time (Thanks DAD!!) LOVE my new jacket and pants!

Project 365: Day 269

It's Thanksgiving Vacation!! Nick has the week off for school and I took the week off work, so we have some time to relax and enjoy each other's company. The week started off with me dragging Nick to Macy's to register for the wedding followed by a nap and the Bruce Springsteen concert.

I have to say, I don't know as many Springsteen songs as expected I would (it was all the way until Born to Run was played in the encore that I finally recognized a song!) but nonetheless, it was one heck of a show!

Project 365: Day 268

Absolutely GORGEOUS day today! Perfect weather to walk back over to the Baker District to pick up our car. On the way I stumbled upon a planter with what looked like some really pretty lettuce planted in it.
So happy that I don't have to work tomorrow! It's going to be a good week!!

Project 365: Day 267

Happy Birthday to Matt!!!  Jessie, Robyn, and Matt had us all over for a little gathering before we headed out to the new bar in town to celebrate Matt's birthday.

After a couple of games of Cards Against Humanity and Hammerschlagen, we walked down the street to Punch Bowls Social - the new bar in the Baker District. It is a HUUUUGE place, 24,000 square feet, in a building that used to be a Big Lots and It just opened up on Friday so it was absolutely packed. They do have some kinks to work out, BUT I have to say it is a pretty amazing place.  It's a bar with bowling, shuffle board (the bar kind AND the real kind that old people play on cruise ships!), marbles, darts, ping pong, foose ball, pool, video games AND a coffee house and diner all in one! It's pretty amazing and overall a great addition to the neighborhood.

 FUN night!!!

Project 365: Day 266

Game night! Aimee and I were supposed to go to a painting class on Friday night, but it was cancelled at the last minute, so instead she came over for dinner with all of her games,
and we ended up having a couple of people over for a game night. After a failed attempt at playing In a Pickle, we had a rousing game of Balderdash.
Good way to kick off Nick and my stay-cation this week!!

Project 365: Day 264

I got some new makeup this week, and I'm SUPER excited about it!! I felt like my Bare Minerals makeup was starting to make my skin look old and dull, so I splurged on some new Aveda skin care and makeup.  I'm going for the natural look - what do u think?

Project 365: Day 263

Back in Billerica for some Bruker on Bruker bonding! (or really just some internal meetings)

Tuesday night I went out to eat with a big group of colleagues from all over the world. Afterwards, I had a couple of beers with my boss and attempted to explain to him my little picture project. He didn't really get it - said that it sounded to him like I had too much time on my hands... which probably isn't a good thing!!!  I tried to get a picture of him for my picture of the day, but he refused:

Instead he told me I should take a picture of the ridiculously large salt container at the restaurant. This is what is wrong with America! (Says my Canadian boss!)

I have to say, I can't disagree... who needs that much salt at the dinner table!?

Project 365: Day 262

Headed out of town again! I'm on the road to Billerica, MA for the week, but had the perk of getting to hang out with my parents in the airport while I waited to board my delayed flight.
Miss them already!
